Kitchen Manager
Position Title: Kitchen Manager
Part Time: 20-25 hours per week
Compensation: $24.50 per hour
Location: BCR Commissary Kitchen at Bloomington Central Station
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead commissary kitchen operations, including team management, food/beverage syrup prep/delivery and inventory management
- Possess in-depth knowledge of BCR’s food & beverage offerings
- Possess & model in-depth knowledge of health department & BCR food safety standards and policies, upholding them in all kitchen operations
- Assist Retail Manager with seasonal menu changes
- Get & maintain a Certified Food Protection Manager license in the State of Minnesota
- Other duties as assigned
Operational Duties:
- Prepare and properly store beverage syrups, hot food & and grab-and-go-food menu items according to standard operating procedures
- Maintain a clean and food-safe environment at all times, adhering to Health Department guidelines and ensuring that any non-compliant notes are promptly resolved
- Use best practices for mise en place and efficiency on shift
- Maintain and adjust ingredient, syrup & food pars in partnership with Retail Manager
- Ensure the proper rotation of ingredients, prepared foods/syrups, using FIFO and discarding waste/expired product as needed
- Proactively manage cost of goods by upholding Standard Operating Procedures on all shifts
- Maintain kitchen equipment and storage in a clean and organized manner
- Place, receive and put away vendor orders, including packaging, dry storage, frozen and refrigerated foods
- Set up orders for reception by delivery driver or BCS coffee bar staff at appropriate times
- Facilitate seasonal menu changes in partnership with Retail Manager
- Actively monitor product quality to ensure standards are being met
- Keep kitchen & storage areas immaculately organized and clean at all times
- Take out trash, compost & recycling from commissary kitchen daily
- Wash and put away all kitchen dishes before end of shift
- Complete daily, weekly and monthly cleaning tasks as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
People Duties:
- Maintain a motivated kitchen team committed to delivering premium products for coffee bar staff & guests
- Promote teamwork and robust, positive communication among staff, including between the kitchen & coffee bar teams
- Model and coach outstanding hospitality at every opportunity
- Be available to cover kitchen shifts as needed, in accordance with on-call expectations
- Help to ensure that all kitchen employees are trained and performing to BCR standards
- Coordinate with RM to address staff concerns or training needs, as they arise
- Proactively ensure protocols are followed as outlined in the BCR Employee Handbook
- Other duties as assigned

- Ability to work alone for hours at a time
- Self-starter - enjoys the challenge of efficiently tackling a to-do list
- Flexible schedule (including early mornings, weekends and occasional evenings)
- Must be approachable, mindful, and positive
- Ability to give and receive constructive feedback in any given situation
- 2+ years kitchen experience required
- Formal leadership experience preferred
